The Herbert H. Dow II Program in American Journalism is an interdisciplinary minor program offered at Hillsdale. The program aims to educate students about journalism standards through an academically rigorous curriculum supplemented by a practical component in the form of an internship. Twenty-one credits are required to complete the program. In addition to the core introductory courses, students complete a mandatory hands-on experience at either or both campus media outlets, The Collegian, the campus’ weekly newspaper, and the college radio station, WRFH 101.7 FM, as well as three elective courses of their choice. Available electives cover topics including sports writing, radio programming, and political journalism.
